The Township has a number of committees dealing with different aspects of Township business at a more detailed level than is possible at Council meetings. Committee members are appointed annually unless specified as an appointment for the term of Council.
2019 Committee Appointments
Council will receive applications to serve on various committees, without renumeration, for various terms commencing in January 2019. Individuals interested in serving on any of the committees listed on the 2019 Committee Appointments notice are invited to submit an expression of interest. Consult the notice for further information.
Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority
The Loyalist Township Councillors are appointed annually to the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) board. This body sets policies and reviews the operations of the Conservation Authority pursuant to the Conservation Authorities Act of Ontario. Meetings are the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Administrative Office of the CRCA.
Committee of Adjustment
The Committee of Adjustment meets the first Monday of every month and generally meets at the Odessa Office at 263 Main St. at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The Committee of Adjustment is composed of the seven members of the Loyalist Township Council. The Committee of Adjustment reviews Minor Variance and Consent (Severance Applications). The Committee of Adjustment determines whether it is desirable for the appropriate development or use of the land, building or structure and whether the general intent and purpose of the by-law and the official plan are maintained.

Recreation Services Advisory Committee
The Recreation Services Advisory Committee meets the second Thursday of every month, at 6:30 p.m., in the WJ Henderson Recreation Centre, 322 Amherst Drive, Amherstview. The purpose of the committee is to advise Council on recreation programs, policies and activities that will meet the needs of the residents of the Township. The committee shall assist Council in keeping the residents aware of the recreational opportunities available and through utilization of facilities, programs and opportunities help ensure enjoyable and satisfactory leisure time experiences for all residents of the Township.
The purpose of the Loyalist Township Heritage Committee is to advise Council on local heritage matters and to assist Council in carrying out its heritage conservation program. The functions and responsibilities of the Committee shall be described in the Ontario Heritage Act. As well Council may from time to time request duties of the Loyalist Township Heritage Committee and the terms of reference for the Committee may be amended by resolution of Council.
The Loyalist Parkway Association
The Loyalist Parkway Association is composed of volunteers who form working groups as interest and needs dictate. The Association advises the respective Municipal Planning and Works Departments, consults with the Ministry of Transport, the utility corporations using the roadways, and the public. The Funding is by grants from the Municipalities. Loyalist Township Council appoints one representative to serve as a member of the Loyalist Parkway Association.
Kingston & Area Taxi Commission
The Kingston & Area Taxi Commission is comprised of three elected official who are appointed annually, one Councillor from the City of Kingston, one Councillor from Loyalist Township and one member of the public. This body provides for the licensing, regulating and governing of the owners and drivers of taxi cabs in the City of Kingston and Loyalist Township.
