Amherst Island Ferry Service - Frontenac II Delayed
May 18: The following message was received from MTO this morning:
"Although the Frontenac II successfully completed its mandatory Transport Canada 5-year inspection, the vessel experienced some mechanical issues prior to sailing from Hamilton. As a result, the Frontenac II was delayed in leaving the dry-dock, and the weather forecast until Sunday is now not favourable to safely sail the 16-hour journey.
"MTO regrets to inform that the Quinte-Loyalist will remain in service until at least Wednesday, May 23. MTO does apologize for the inconvenience. All parties will work hard to get the Frontenac II back in service as soon as possible. There could be a service disruption depending on when the Frontenac II arrives, as the docks need to be refit prior to the switch. MTO will advise of the exact schedule next week.
"Thank you for your understanding."
