Loyalist Lions celebrate 100 year anniversary
In celebration of the Lions of Loyalist Township and the 100th Anniversary of Lionism, Loyalist Township Horticulturalist Leslie Neasmith designed a special flower arrangement in Islandview Park (Amherstview) to commemorate this milestone.
Lion Don Jones of Bath, Lion Carman Fisher of Amherstview, Lion Dan McGrath of Bath, District A3 Lion Webmaster Tom Houston of Bath, Lion Bill Matier of Amherstview, Mayor Bill Lowry, Loyalist horticulturalist Leslie Neasmith, Lion Chris Eggink of Odessa, and Director of Recreation Services Andree Ferris.
The Lions of Loyalist Township have contributed hugely in the past to family assistance, to youth in the community with the Scouts, the Loyalist Skating Club and the Loyalist Minor Hockey Association, to the Amherstview Seniors, to the Vision/Hearing Screening in the schools, to scholarships as well as to Registered Charities including the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Lions International Foundation, the Sunshine Dreams for Kids Foundation, the Lions Lake Joseph Centre, the Special Olympics as well as CNIB. As a result of the fires in British Columbia and in Alberta, the Lions of Loyalist Township have also donated to disaster relief.
Upcoming events include the 38th annual Loyalist Lions Santa Claus Parade on November 4th in Amherstview, the Pancake Breakfast in Bath on every third Sunday, the Euchre Party for Seniors on November 11th in Amherstview and the Breakfast with Santa on November 25th in Amherstview.
Be on the lookout for the Amherstview Fish Fry with scrumptious homemade pies on April 15th, 2018, the captivating Canada Day Celebrations in Bath, the exciting Odessa Country Fair in July as well as the famous and fabulous Loyalist Family Fishing Day at the Loyalist Heritage Park in Adolphustown on August 12, 2018. These events showcase how diligently the Loyalist Lions work together to create a caring community that contributes to the health and welfare in Loyalist Township.
