Loyalist Township Announces Appointment of permanent CAO
Following the 2nd Session of Council on January 14, 2019, a committee of council was formed to direct the selection process. The committee consisted of two Council Members and Loyalist Township Mayor, Ric Bresee. During Monday’s selection appointment Mayor Bresee stated, “we are very pleased to be announcing today that Steven Silver has been appointed as the permanent CAO for the Corporation of Loyalist Township. We have had the benefit of Mr. Silver acting as our interim Township executive since last July, and this Council has been very pleased with his performance. Mr. Silver has shown himself to be a thorough and conscientious manager for the Township.”
Silver brings many years of experience at the CAO level serving many communities throughout the Eastern Ontario region. Bresee added “We are very lucky to have this level of skill and experience at the top of our very strong team of both managers and employees as we head into a very exciting term of office.”
Silver noted the growth outlook for the Township as something that excites him about the role. “I feel truly fortunate to be offered this position on a permanent basis. This is an exciting time for Loyalist Township. The attraction of economic development opportunities will play an important part in our future. Council is about to embark on developing a new strategic plan, updating the official plan, and a review of Township facilities and services. I look forward to working with Council and our team of staff in delivering efficient, effective and affordable services to the residents of Loyalist Township.”
The CAO is an integral advisor to Mayor and Council supporting the development and implementation of strategic objectives in the interest of a sustainable community, The CAO builds strong working relationships with stakeholders and provides mentorship and guidance to staff by fostering a culture of municipal excellence.
