Loyalist Township Employees Give Back to the Community
Each year, Loyalist Township staff work hard to excel in our commitment to the Township, and to give back to the community we serve.
In June, the 12th Annual Loyalist Township Golf Tournament raised $2,059.00 for the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation Cancer Centre.
In July, the Loyalist Township Fishing Derby raised over $1,400.00 for the Lennox and Addington SPCA. Additionally, two shelter dogs who visited the derby found their forever homes with people they met there.
In October and November, staff hosted Alzheimer's Coffee Breaks at various Township locations, as well as a breakfast at the Public Works Garage and a lunch at the Leisure & Activity Centre. Overall, $2,537.25 was raised for Alzheimer's Kingston/Research - a new record for our organization's participation in this annual fundraiser.
In December, donation bins were set up at five Township buildings to collect non-perishable food items, mittens, and toys for the Christmas Hampers programs run by Lions Clubs in Odessa, Amherstview, and Bath. Staff and the public gave generously to the hampers, which help serve those who are experiencing financial hardship in our community.
Through the Partners for Life program with Canadian Blood Services, Loyalist Township staff committed to donate 30 units of blood throughout the calendar year. As of mid-December, we have exceeded our goal, donating a total of 34 units of blood.
We are happy for the opportunity to serve Loyalist Township residents, businesses, and visitors, and we look forward to continuing to do so in 2017. We wish you all the best for a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Prosperous 2017.
