Loyalist Township launches New Emergency Notification System
On June 7, Loyalist Township will begin employing CodeRED, a new critical communications and emergency notification solution. CodeRED is a phone-based notification system that residents can opt into. Once subscribed, residents and visitors can receive geo-located alerts via phone, text or email.
In an emergency situation, having an effective mass notification solution does more than protect individuals and keep them safe. It also gives residents a sense of confidence. They understand where to go when they need information about local hazards. They know where to turn when they want to find out if an emergency is imminent. These are critical to providing effective emergency preparedness alerts and information before a disaster.
This multimodal solution is designed for government agencies to quickly and reliably deliver emergency and general geo-specific notifications to residents and visitors. Typical uses for CodeRED alerts includes weather warnings, evacuation notices, road closures, boil water advisories, service disruptions and more.
“Proactive communication affords us the opportunity to communicate during the many phases of a crisis and to provide timely and potentially lifesaving information,” Said Fire Chief, Fred Stephenson. “The CodeRED system allows our Emergency Services to let residents know what is occurring, what to expect, what is being done and what they can do to help.”
For organizations providing emergency services, maintaining a mass notification system is an important step in getting the word out before, during, and after a disaster. Residents can subscribe to CodeRED alerts by visiting https://public.coderedweb.com/CNE/en-CA/BFE4C479E5ED.
