New Manitou Office to Open in Late February

Loyalist is Growing!

In 2018, Township staff began investigating options for relocation of certain staff to alleviate overcrowding issues at the Odessa Municipal Office. Following the September 9, 2019 Council Meeting, Council directed staff to finalize leasing negotiations for the preferred office space at 18 Manitou Crescent West, Amherstview.  This office space will become the interim office space for the Economic Growth & Community Development Department (Utilities Management, Engineering, Planning, Development and Building services).

After finalizing the leasing arrangements, the landlord has begun preparation and configuration of the space.  The projected opening date for this Township office is tentatively scheduled for late February.

A key objective to moving this newly-formed department is to foster cohesion and collaboration while enhancing effectiveness and efficiency. This new office will not provide a full range of Township services. Payments at the 18 Manitou Crescent West location will be restricted to development and building services (including building permits). For a full list of services available at the Manitou office, scroll to the bottom of this page. The WJ Henderson Recreation Centre and the Administration Office in Odessa will continue to offer a broad range of municipal services for residents.

Call us prior to your visit so we can ensure we’re fully prepared to answer your questions and assist with your project.  Phone number (613-386-7351) and staff extension numbers will remain unchanged despite the change in office.

The long-term vision of the Township is to provide all services to residents in one central Community Hub.  In 2018, a Feasibility Study and Master Plan for a Community Hub on Amherst Drive was prepared by architectural consultants with MJMA.  The most recent step towards the development of a Community Hub in Loyalist came in November of 2019.  On November 8, 2019, Loyalist Township staff submitted a grant application to the Community, Culture, and Recreation stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program requesting funding for the Loyalist Township Sustainable Community Hub on behalf of the Township. Township staff expect to be notified by the Provincial government during 2020 regarding the outcome of this grant application.
