Open-air burning ban in effect April 1 - May 15
Due to dry weather conditions, open-air burning is prohibited throughout Loyalist Township from April 1 – May 15.
This open-air burning ban includes cooking fires, consumer fireworks and other types of outdoor burning. Barbecues and other gas appliances are permitted under the ban, but the Emergency Services Department advises residents to always be careful when cooking.
Residents are reminded to refrain from burning yard waste and brush. Brush and yard waste collection is available in mainland Loyalist Township every spring and fall. Brush pickup collections this spring will begin on Monday, April 15, 2019 and yard waste collection begins on Monday, May 6, 2019.
Residents and visitors who do not comply with the open-air burning ban will be investigated and could be charged. In addition, those who do not comply with the ban could be faced with the costs incurred whenever a fire must be extinguished.
