Quinte-Loyalist Ferry Coming to Amherst Island April 13 - Update
On Friday, April 13, 2018, the Frontenac II will be taken out of service as of 10:30 a.m., and will be sent for its mandatory five-year drydock inspection. A service interruption of approximately four hours is expected as crews make the necessary changes to accommodate the Quinte-Loyalist. The Quinte-Loyalist will then go into service as of 2:30 p.m.
While the Quinte-Loyalist is at Amherst Island, the Township will have 24-hour security onsite at the Millhaven Dock. Additional parking will also be added at Millhaven, by eliminating rows 5 and 6 of the queueing area and replacing them with diagonal parking. This reduction in queueing area is possible due to the smaller capacity of the Quinte-Loyalist. Please see the image below for the designated parking areas on the Millhaven dock during the Quinte-Loyalist's service at the Amherst Island link.
The addition of parking and full-time security are intended to help ensure the safety of all ferry users. Loyalist Township staff will monitor the situation closely and will make adjustments as necessary. Thank you for your patience.
