Household Hazardous Waste
Loyalist Township’s Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program is managed by the City of Kingston. HHW is collected at the Kingston Area Recycling Corporation (KARC), located at 196 Lappan’s Lane. For more information on what the program accepts, please visit the City of Kingston’s website and click Household Hazardous Waste.
The HHW dropoff depot is open Thursdays and Saturdays, from April through November. This program is free to Loyalist Township residents (proof of residency required).
KARC no longer accepts pharmaceuticals, including prescription and non-prescription drugs, or "sharps" (needles and syringes). Residents of Loyalist can drop off pharmaceuticals and sharps for safe disposal at many local pharmacies through the drop-off program organized by Health Products Stewardship Association (HPSA). Residents can visit the Association's website to find the nearest pharmacy that will accept pharmaceuticals and sharps for safe disposal. Residents are encouraged to contact their pharmacy before dropping off pharmaceuticals or sharps, as certain handling restrictions may apply (i.e. sharps need to be brought in a specific biohazard container).
