Yard Waste & Brush PickupSeparate collections for brush and yard waste take place in mainland Loyalist Township every spring and fall. For each collection, crews will pass through an area once only. They will not return for late items.
Yard Waste Pickup - 2018
Yard waste will be picked up Monday, May 7 and Monday, November 12, 2018
- Yard waste must be bagged using paper bags only
- Must be at the curb by 7:00 am
- Brush is not included
"Yard Waste" is anything that is, or once was, growing in your yard. Examples include grass clippings, leaves, flowers, hedge trimmings.
"Yard Waste" does not include food wastes, pet feces, soil, rocks, or any non-organic debris you may rake up from your lawn.
Kraft Paper Bags Only It is important that yard waste not be put in plastic bags of any type. Note that many plastic bags are marked "biodegradable" or "suitable for municipal yard waste"", but they are not acceptable for Loyalist's program. Yard waste placed in plastic bags of any kind will be left at the curb.
Brush Pickup - 2018
Brush Pickup will begin
Monday, April 16 and Monday, October 15, 2018 - UPDATED: April brush pickup is delayed due to unseasonable weather, and will instead begin on April 23, 2018. Brush may be be placed at the curb until 7 a.m. on April 23.
Brush must be at the curb no later than 7:00 am on the first day of the program.
- Branches no larger than 6 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter.
- Smaller branches must be bundled.
- One ½ ton truck load allowed per household.
Brush pick-up is not available to residents on Amherst Island.
Both brush and yard waste can be dropped off at Kingston Area Recycling Corporation, 196 Lappan’s Lane, Kingston. This is free of charge to Loyalist residents and it is open year round. Please visit KARC’s website for additional information.
