Seasonal Outdoor Water Usage Restrictions
Important notice for residents of Amherstview and the Brooklands and Harewood Subdivisions: As of April 30, 2018, repairs to the interior of the Amherstview water tank will necessitate a total ban on the outdoor use of municipally-treated water until approximately June 15, 2018. More details and weekly updates can be found here. The total ban does not apply to municipal water customers in Bath and Odessa, who may continue to follow the regular seasonal outdoor water use restrictions outlined below.
Residents who are on municipal water should be aware that Loyalist Township employs a peak water demand management plan. Each year, from May 1 to September 30, outdoor water use for watering lawns or gardens, washing vehicles, etc., is restricted according to property address.
If you live at an address ending in an odd number, you may use water outdoors on odd-numbered days. If you live at an address ending in an even number, your days are the even-numbered days.
Residents may request a short-term (14 days) exemption from the outdoor water usage restriction by-law, in the case of new grass sod or seed. Requests must be made in writing to the Engineering Clerk. For more information, please call 613-386-7351, ext. 116.
Occasionally, circumstances may arise where Loyalist Township requires an expansion of the outdoor water use restrictions. This may be due to an emergency, weather conditions, or facility maintenance, and may take place at any time of year. The Township reserves the right to impose a full ban on outdoor water use including watering, should the need arise, within each service area.
