Seasonal Outdoor Water Usage Restrictions
Important notice for residents of Amherstview and the Brooklands and Harewood Subdivisions: The total water ban that was put in place on April 30, 2018, during repairs to the Amherstview water tower, was lifted on June 9, 2018, when the tower was returned to service. Regular seasonal outdoor water use restrictions, as outlined below, are in place for all municipal water customers in Loyalist Township.
Residents who are on municipal water should be aware that Loyalist Township employs a peak water demand management plan. Each year, from May 1 to September 30, outdoor water use for watering lawns or gardens, washing vehicles, etc., is restricted according to property address.
If you live at an address ending in an odd number, you may use water outdoors on odd-numbered days. If you live at an address ending in an even number, your days are the even-numbered days.
Residents may request a short-term (14 days) exemption from the outdoor water usage restriction by-law, in the case of new grass sod or seed. Requests must be made in writing to the Engineering Clerk. For more information, please call 613-386-7351, ext. 116.
Occasionally, circumstances may arise where Loyalist Township requires an expansion of the outdoor water use restrictions. This may be due to an emergency, weather conditions, or facility maintenance, and may take place at any time of year. The Township reserves the right to impose a full ban on outdoor water use including watering, should the need arise, within each service area.
