ACCESSIBILITY COMMITTEE [1]

ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE

Township Council meets, in Administration Committee, on the first Monday of each month.  The Administration Committee meetings are less formal than Council meetings and allow Council members to discuss a variety of issues.  Any matter approved at an Administration Committee meeting must be forwarded to Council for final approval.

CATARAQUI REGION CONSERVATION AUTHORITY

The Loyalist Township Councillors are appointed annually to the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) board.  This body sets policies and reviews the operations of the Conservation Authority pursuant to the Conservation Authorities Act of Ontario.  Meetings are the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Administrative Office of the CRCA.

COMMITTEE OF ADJUSTMENT

The Committee of Adjustment meets the last Tuesday of every month and generally meets at the Odessa Office at 263 Main St. at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.  The Committee of Adjustment is composed of six members who are appointed by the Council of Loyalist Township for the term of Council, being 3 years.  The Committee of Adjustment reviews Minor Variance and Consent (Severance Applications).  The Committee of Adjustment determines whether it is desirable for the appropriate development or use of the land, building or structure and whether the general intent and purpose of the by-law and the official plan are maintained.

HERITAGE COMMITTEE

The purpose of the Loyalist Township Heritage Committee is to advise Council on local heritage matters and to assist Council in carrying out its heritage conservation program.  The functions and responsibilities of the Committee shall be described in the Ontario Heritage Act.  As well Council may from time to time request duties of the Loyalist Township Heritage Committee and the terms of reference for the Committee may be amended by resolution of Council.

THE LOYALIST PARKWAY ASSOCIATION

The Loyalist Parkway Association is composed of volunteers who form working groups as interest and needs dictate.  The Association advises the respective Municipal Planning and Works Departments, consults with the Ministry of Transport, the utility corporations using the roadways, and the public.  The Funding is by grants from the Municipalities.  Loyalist Township Council appoints one representative to serve as a member of the Loyalist Parkway Association.

POLICE SERVICES BOARD

In accordance with the Police Services Act, the Loyalist Township Police Services Board (PSB) consists of:

  1. The head of the municipal Council,
  2. One person appointed by Council,
  3. One person appointed by the Lieutenant Governor In Council

The Board meets at 1:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month, at the Township Offices in Odessa.  The public is welcome to attend.  Please note that the date, time and location may be altered from time to time, so public is advised to call the office at 613-386-7351 Ext. 107.  For more information contact the Chief Administrative Officer at Ext. 111.

QUINTE CONSERVATION

Quinte Conservation has 18 member municipalites within its watershed.  Loyalist Township appointes one councillor or well informed individual to serve as a member on the board of directors.  The Quinte Conservation Executive Committee has three Watershed Advisory Boards:  Moira River (MRWAB), Napanee Region (NRWAB) and Prince Edward Region (PERWAB) that each deal with individual watershed issues.  The Chair and Vice-Chair of the Watershed Advisory Boards are put to a vote each year.  The Chair and Vice-Chair of the Quinte Conservation Executive Committee are alternated every year by the Chairs of the Watershed Advisory Boards.

TAXI COMMISSION

The Tax Commission is comprised of three elected official who are appointed annually,  one Councillor from the City of Kingston, one Councillor from Loyalist Township and one member of the public.  This body provides for the licensing, regulating and governing of the owners and drivers of taxi cabs in the City of Kingston and Loyalist Township.
