Additions and renovations
Addition or renovation
An application for a renovation or addition permit requires substantial information in order to be processed.
If you are not designing your addition or renovation yourself, you may require the services of a qualified designer. Items that must be engineered will need to be certified by a licensed Professional Engineer.
All work on the drawings must conform to the standards set out in the Ontario Building Code, applicable municipal by-laws, and other applicable laws. We recommend that you contact a building inspector early in your design process. To meet with an inspector please call 613-386-7351, ext. 128 to make an appointment.
Inspections
To book an inspection, please contact your Building Inspector.
When you have a building permit, you or your contractor need to contact us for an inspection at various stages throughout the construction project. The inspection requirements will be listed on the back of your building permit.
Inspections are needed to make sure that the project is being built according to the plans, the manufacturer's specifications, and the Ontario Building Code. This ensures the safety and integrity of the structure for its intended use.
