Garages
Building a garage
If you're not designing your own garage, you will need a qualified designer. If your garage is designed as a floating slab larger than 50 m2, it must be designed by a licensed Professional Engineer.
All drawings must meet the Ontario Building Code, any municipal by-laws, and other applicable law.
We recommend that you contact our building division early in your design process. For an appointment with an inspector, please email the Development Analyst or call 613-386-7351, ext. 128.
What do I need to apply? |
Here's what we need to get from you in order to issue a building permit for a garage or carport:
Any prefabricated shed over 10m2 (108 square feet) requires engineered details and must be stamped by a Professional Engineer licensed in Ontario. We have prepared a Garages and Sheds permit package for you to download, if you wish. |
How much will it cost? |
Please visit our Building Permits page for application fees. |
