Fare collection suspended on Amherst Island Ferry Service
Ferries provide a vital transportation link to essential service and to many residents are still required to travel to meet employment, health and other critical obligations.
Social distancing remains a key component in reducing the spread of this virus and we must all do our part.
All passengers are encouraged to stay in their vehicles while on the ferry and limit contact with others as much as possible. And if you are walking on, please keep the recommended 2 metre social distance from other passengers and crew members and respect all spaces.
In order to minimize person to person contact on the ferry, effective March 19th the collection of fares on the Amherst Island Ferry Service is suspended.
Ongoing efforts for increased cleaning and increased handwashing signs will continue. This includes all door handles, hand rails, seats in the passenger cabins, light switches, bathroom areas, etc.
Displaying posters in all high traffic areas to remind staff and passengers to take steps to reduce exposure to and transmission of illnesses including coronavirus including the need to wash your hands and keep a social distance (2 metres is recommended); sneeze or cough into your sleeve, avoid touching your eyes; nose and mouth; avoid contact with people who are sick and stay home if you are sick.
